Welcome to middle school, 6th graders! This is a big jump forward for your academic journey and we’re so excited to welcome you to the middle school experience!
IMPORTANT AND MOST BASIC:
WE expect all students to be respectful of each other and to their teachers. Students will quietly arrive in class and be ready for the lesson. All students will raise their hands to speak. Chromebooks must be charged and ready to go, everyday! Most of all, we expect all of us to have fun and grow in our knowledge.
Policies and Expectations:
Homework Policy:
Middle school is a time for students to improve in their responsibilities. I follow the St. Cletus Student Handbook Homework Violation Policy found on page 42: “Incomplete homework must be completed and turned in the next day. The student will receive a
homework violation. A 50% reduction in grade will occur on the second day the homework is late. If a late homework assignment is not turned in by the third day, the student will receive zero credit.”
If there is a reason for a late assignment, please reach out to me. Extracurricular activities, misplaced work, or forgetting materials are not acceptable excuses for late or missing work.
Two homework violations result in a recess detention.
Chromebook Policy:
I follow the St. Cletus Chromebook policy found on page 21: “Four “Chromebook Violations (CV)” will cause one detention. While each violation represents a breakdown in expectations that must be dealt with, only behavior discipline problems could result in loss of eligibility for school related activities. An example of a Chromebook Violation is failure to charge student’s Chromebook daily making the student not prepared for class.”
If there are problems with your child’s Chromebook (charger not working, screen damaged, or another issue) please email me as soon as possible. A CV will also be issued for students who are on websites that are not relevant to class, like playing games during i-Ready.
