Dear DLI Families,
What a SUPER fun week we had in DLI! Between celebrating Red Ribbon Week, learning new letters and numbers, and enjoying our Halloween festivities, our little learners had a week full of excitement, creativity, and learning!
This week, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week, and this year’s theme was SUPERHEROES! We took some time as a class to talk about what superheroes do and what makes someone a superhero. We discussed how superheroes help others, show kindness, make good choices, and use their strengths to make a difference.
We also talked about how we can all be superheroes in our own way by making healthy choices, being kind to our friends, and taking care of ourselves. After all, you don’t need a cape to be a superhero!
Our letter of the week was la letra Ss! We practiced identifying the letter and learning the sound it makes. We also combined it with our five vowels, A, E, I, O, U, to practice our syllables: sa, se, si, so, and su.
We made connections to our own classroom by looking at the names of our friends and discovering which names begin with or contain the letter S. It was exciting for our students to recognize that the letters we learn are also part of their very own names!
In math, we celebrated reaching el número 10! We practiced recognizing the number, counting, and matching quantities. We also began introducing el número 11, helping our little learners continue building their number recognition and counting skills.
We love seeing their excitement as they discover new numbers and challenge themselves to count a little higher each time!
We ended our very fun week with our Halloween Trunk or Treat! Oh, what fun we had! Our students enjoyed seeing all the creative decorations, costumes, and festive activities. It was such a wonderful way to celebrate Halloween together and create special memories with our school community.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration so special for our little ones!
