We had another wonderful week in DLI Pre-K 4! This week, we focused on developing our fine motor skills as we continue working through our pre-writing stage. Our little learners have been practicing different movements and skills that will help prepare their hands for writing.
Fine Motor Skills & Pre-Writing
Every morning, we continue practicing our names. We are so excited to begin seeing the progress our students are making! Many of our students are starting to recognize some of the letters in their names and are slowly learning how to identify and write them.
We will continue practicing how to properly hold our pencils and crayons, trace lines and shapes, and strengthen our hands and fingers. All of these activities are important in preparing our hands for writing.
Heggerty – Phonemic Awareness
We also continued working with our Heggerty program, focusing on developing our phonemic awareness skills. Through songs, movements, and repetition games, students are practicing listening carefully and recognizing sounds in words.Our Heggerty song of the week was “Sana, Sana, Colita de Rana”! Our students loved singing and participating together! These songs help us develop our listening, repeating, and sound-awareness skills while having fun.
Time with Our Buddies!
This week, we also had the opportunity to meet with our 6th grade buddies! Our students really enjoyed spending time with them, sharing, and learning together. Moving forward, we will continue meeting with our buddies every Tuesday for Mass & Thursdays for collaboration time. We are so excited for all of the experiences and special memories we will create together throughout the year!
Please remember that we will attend Mass on Tuesday, September 22nd for the first time this school year. We ask that families help prepare our little ones for Mass by reminding them about the importance of participating respectfully, listening carefully, and keeping calm bodies during this special time together.
We had an awesome time talking about how we can be inclusive and all of our little Cardinals were full of ideas on how we can all be inclusive in class.
