We had a great first week of school! We are still getting used to our classroom routine and learning our daily songs and prayers. We met our 6th-Grade buddies today and attended the 9:30 all school Mass of the Holy Spirit! We will start going to Mass every Tuesday at 8am starting September 8th. We will also be meeting with Buddies on Friday mornings.
Every week we have a new set of classroom jobs that your children get to do for a whole week. Everyone will get a turn, and when your child gets his/her turn, he/she is so PROUD!
We also have Haggerty the Hippo. He is a stuffed animal Hippo that looks for good participation from the kids, and one child is picked a day to hold him during our Haggerty Phonemic awareness time on the carpet. Every child will have a chance, and we will have him for the year! So far he is a big hit:)

Religion: This week we talked all about how God Loves us and how special our names are to each one of us! The children have been learning many prayers. They will be bringing home a sheet today with the sign of the cross in their backpack. Please take the time to practice with them!
Literacy: We read many fun back to school books this week. Next week we will have some “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” , fun, alone with many class activities to reinforce letter recognition. We will also start our Jolly Phonics program, and the letter sounds for the letter “s” and “a” .
Math: We will continue to practice number recognition and number formation through poems at calendar time.
Social Studies: We have been very busy learning about our social skills in the classroom and how we show friends kindness and how to be a good friend in our classroom.
A few reminders:
- Please have your child bring a 4×6 family picture to class for our “JK Family” bulletin board. If you have not had a chance to do so yet.
- We have a Early dismissal on September 4, at 2pm
- No school Monday, September 7th for Labor Day!
