Our Week in DLI!
Dear DLI Families,
What a wonderful week we had! Our little learners have been busy learning, exploring, and growing together. Here are some of the highlights from our week!
Letters & Sounds
This week, we finished learning the letter Aa and began learning our new letter, Ee!
During our morning circle, we practiced how to write the letra Ee in the air and talked about words that begin with the /e/ sound. One of our Zoophonics friends helped us along the way Eli Elefante!
We are having so much fun learning our letters, their sounds, and new vocabulary in both English and Spanish.
Heggerty
We continued practicing our Heggerty phonemic awareness activities, especially rhyming words (palabras que riman).
Our students love listening for words that sound alike and coming up with their own rhymes. We are seeing them become more confident as they play with sounds and words. ¡Muy bien, amigos!
Book of the Week | Libro de la semana
Our book of the week was Shh… Tenemos un plan.
We absolutely LOVED this book. The students had so much fun following along with the story, talking about what was happening, making predictions, and sharing their ideas with their friends.
It has quickly become one of our favorite books!
Religion | Religión
This week in Religion, we read Dios nos creó. Students had the opportunity to see many of the different animals that God created and talk about how each one is different, unique, and special just like them! We talked about how God created each of us in our own special way and that our differences are what make us únicos y especiales. We are also continuing to practice our “Ángel de la Guarda” prayer.
Our Sixth Grade Buddies
One of the highlights of our week was meeting our sixth grade buddies! Our students were SO excited to meet their big buddies and spend some time with them. It was wonderful to see our little learners interact with the older students, make connections, and begin building new friendships. We are looking forward to many more special moments with our amigos throughout the year!
Looking Ahead
Heggerty Is Picking Up! Over the next few weeks, our Heggerty lessons will begin to pick up as we continue developing our phonemic awareness skills. You will probably start hearing your little ones singing Heggerty songs to you in Spanish at home! Please encourage them to share what they are learning with you. ¡Nos encanta aprender cantando y jugando con las palabras!
No School – Monday, September 7
We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend with their families!
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Change
Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, our pick-up and drop-off route will change for the week.
Please make sure to review any information and directions provided regarding the new route so that we can help make this transition as smooth and organized as possible.
¡Estamos muy orgullosos!
We are so proud of our little learners and all the hard work they are putting in each day. It is so special to watch them become more confident, independent, and excited about learning.
