This week has been very warm but we are blessed to have AC in our classroom. We reduced outside time to 15 minutes and we had a coupe days of indoor recess.
1) Continuing with our discussion of assumptions, we began reading Wonder. It is about a middle school boy with face deformities. There are mature themes dealing with manipulation and bullying. It is a captivating book that speaks to junior high students and the students seem to be very interested.
2) In math we are expanding our number line to include decimals and fractions such as graphing -2.8 on a number line. We also learned about absolute value-the distance from zero. Did you know magnitude is another name for absolute value?
3) We had a tornado, fire and bus evacuation drill.
4) We hung out with our buddies in Morrissey Hall playing games and reading books. So fun! We will start going to mass with them every Tuesday starting next week.
5) We talked about remembering Labor Day as an American holiday.
6) We discussed time management and executive functioning as part of a larger SEL lesson.
7) We had a full week with all our specials–PE, Music, Spanish, TLC, and Art. We are so blessed at St Cletus to have a chance to appreciate the arts and culture.
