Halloween Fun!

Friday, October 30, is our Halloween Party and school-wide Trunk or Treat\! Our classroom party will begin at 10:00 AM, and the Trunk or Treat will begin at 1:45 PM. We are looking forward to a fun-filled day celebrating Halloween together!

Please be sure to check your child’s Friday communication folder for a letter outlining the Halloween guidelines for kindergarten. The letter includes important information to help us make the day enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Our House Book

The House Book continues to make its rounds\! I will reach out when it is your child’s turn to bring the book home. In the meantime, ask your child which lucky friend got to take the book home this week!

Journaling

We will continue practicing our journaling skills, focusing on writing words with a pencil, drawing detailed pictures with crayons, and using lowercase letters when writing.

Next week, we will take the next step in our writing journey! Instead of simply labeling our pictures with a single word, we will begin writing sentences to describe what we see. For example, students will practice writing sentences such as “Yo veo un gato.”

Our students have been doing a wonderful job remembering to write their full names, starting with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters. I am so proud of their hard work and growing independence as writers!

Counting

We will continue practicing counting by ones, working our way up to 50\! Please keep practicing at home, too.

In class, we like to pat our laps as we count and clap each time we reach a new group of ten. This is a fun way to help us recognize groups of ten and build our counting skills. Try it at home with your child!

Religion and Science

We will continue attending 8:00 AM Mass on Tuesdays. Thank you for helping your child arrive on time and ready to participate.

Next week is Pumpkin Week!

Do you remember our special visitor from the farmers market who came to talk to us about fruits and vegetables? She shared a story about the pumpkins her farmer grows. She explained that the farmer walks around his entire farm and turns every single pumpkin so that it sits upright. This helps the pumpkins grow round instead of becoming misshapen.

Wow, that is a lot of work\! We certainly appreciate all the care that goes into growing our perfectly round pumpkins. We are excited to learn more about pumpkins next week!

Thank you for your continued support at home and for all you do to help our classroom community thrive. I am so proud of all the progress our little learners are making, and I look forward to another wonderful week together!
