Hi! I hope everyone is recovering from Fall Fest. I know we all wish for another day to wake up a bit more, but I am glad to start another beautiful week in middle school. Before we get started with class updates, here are some important dates to remember:
September 16th – Last day to order mums
September 24th – 1:15pm Grand Friends Mass
September 25th – No School!
September 26th – 8th Grade Mum Delivery
Now, let’s get into what we’ve learned and what we are going to do in the next week!
ELA: On Friday, we took a Vocabulary Test! I will hand the tests back today. Test corrections are due Thursday. I am going to move away from weekly vocabulary tests to one every 2 weeks. This will give us more time to really study and use the words in and out of class! Our next big project is the Argument Essay. The students have chosen their topics, and we will begin to research some facts with credible sources this week.
Homeroom Literature: Over the weekend, your child should have finished Part One in Wonder. We are loving this book! Last week, we analyzed the relationships of the characters we’ve met so far and discussed how we treat people who look differently than us. This Friday, we will have a short quiz on the book so far.
Other fun stuff: We finally met with our buddies and helped them learn how to go to church! Our class did so well gently guiding their buddies on kneeling, genuflecting, and going up to receive a blessing. Afterwards, we walked around the Fall Fest grounds before anything was open. It was so much fun!
That’s all for now! If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a beautiful week ahead.
