✏️ ELA | English Language Arts
We are beginning our narrative writing unit! Some of us are beginning to work on their rough drafts as they bring their stories to life.Students will be learning the important skills needed to write a strong narrative, including proper paragraph structure, organization, and developing their ideas.
Next, students will begin working on their final typed drafts, as they bring their stories to life.

🔢 Math
We are kicking off Unit 1 using the Into Math curriculum. Our focus will be on understanding exponents and powers of 10.Students will continue building their understanding on multiplication fluency.

✝️ Religion
We are moving into Chapter 1 of our religion textbook. Students are learning about Jesus’ healing miracles and will be creating a creative magazine cover highlighting what they have learned.

📖 Reading
We are excited to begin our very first class novel:
⭐ George’s Cosmic Treasure Hunt
by Louis and Stephen Hawking
We will be reading and studying this novel throughout the month of September.
Students will also receive a weekly reading packet to complete throughout the week. These packets will be collected at the end of the unit and will count toward their points, so please help your child remember to complete it!
📚 Weekly Reading Reminder
Miss Pretzie’s students have a reading log! The purpose of this log is to help students keep track of their reading progress at home.
Students should read for 20 minutes each day and turn in their reading log each week to earn 5 points. 📚✨
📝 Spelling
Every Friday, students will take a quiz on that week’s spelling words and their definitions.
Good news! Spelling quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery. Encourage your child to review their words throughout the week!
🔬 Science
We are currently moving into the phases of the water cycle. This should be a review so this unit 2 should go quick, Next quiz Friday!
🧪 Up Next: Students will have a quiz covering the phases of the water cycle.
🇺🇸 Social Studies
We have officially started Chapter 1!
Students are practicing important study skills, including note-taking, creating note cards, and summarizing information.
We are learning about the Colonial Era and exploring what life was like for people during this important period in American history.
