JK Newsletter September 4, 2026

Well, the weather was HOT this week, but we still had so much fun!  We started our  Chicka Chicka Boom Boom centers, practiced our names, and did lots of fun fine motor activities!

You child may have told you we practiced, fire drills, tornado drills and even a bus drill this week!

We also started library with Mrs. Flood, she is a always a highlight of our week, and best of all spent time with our 6th grade buddies!

In JK, the  Social emotional well being of our classmates has been a big focus. Learning how to share toys, take turns at games, and include others are just a few components of forming friendships and a BIG part of our program!  Our class is off to a great start with building friendships, and showing kindness each day!

A few questions to ask your kids:

  • Can you sing” Show God’s Love to Everyone”?
  • What is your favorite toy on the playground? The slides, water table or playing catch and running with friends?
  • What book did Mrs. Flood read in the library?  (Snoopy)

Religion: Your child brought home a prayer card with our classroom prayers on it, we say those everyday day in our classroom. This week we learned about St. Teresa of Calcutta. She was a wonderful example of how she helped those in need. Thank you to those who brought in a family picture. Please send one in if you haven’t. The kids LOVE looking at them on the family board! Next Tuesday September 8th, we will start going to mass every Tuesday morning at 8am with our 6th grade buddies!

Literacy: We learned the letter sound and motion for the letter “S”. Next week we will learn about the letter “A”. We also started Phonemic Awareness this week. This program is done through listening and repeating back with fun motions. They’re listening for beginning and ending sounds, compound words, and rhyming words to name a few. We do it everyday before center time.  The Hippo goes to the student that did a good job with rhyming and building words.  The kids love to see what lucky classmate gets to hold the Hippo, and of course they will all have a turn!

Math: We have been busy learning number songs and counting with games, and in centers.

Have a safe and wonderful 3 day weekend!
